SITE WEEKLY SEMINAR SERIES: “The Brain as Computer” by Professor Roald Sagdeev Renowned Scientist and Public Figure Abstract: This talk will describe the concept of short series of lectures on the topic (rapidly gaining momentum) “Brain as a Computer”. Where do the brain science and IT stand today, 60 years after seminal book of John von Neuman? Bio: Prof. Sagdeev is a Distinguished Professor of Physics at the University of Maryland, College Park, member of the US National Academy and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. sor at the Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm, where he assists clients with issues involving Russia and countries in the former Soviet Union. During the Soviet times, Prof. Sagdeev served as the director of the Space Research Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences and was a science advisor to Mikhail Gorbachev. At the age of 35, Prof. Sagdeev was one of the youngest persons to have been ever elected as a full academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
