Your code is here The central piece of Vasco Araújo’s first solo exhibition in Azerbaijan is 'Liebestod: Love and Death', a video that explores romantic love, passion and the impossibility of two lovers being together. These subjects are inspected through the lense of psychoanalysts from Azerbaijan and Germany. In a series of interviews, they examine and compare the plots of two operas - "Tristan and Isolde" by Richard Wagner and "Leyli and Majnun" by Uzeyir Hajibeyov - and answer questions posed by the artist about the definition of love, the projection of the hardship of the protagonists onto present-day situations and professional advice on how one should act when illusion clashes with reality. Combined with profound lyrics, poignant music and sinister night landscapes of ancient cemeteries, abandoned castles and virgin forests these conversations submerge the viewer into reflection on whether death is the only salvation for eternal love.

Sevgi və Ölüm” videosudur: burada romantik eşq münasibətləri, ehtiras və iki sevgilinin bir yerdə ola bilməməsini təcəssüm etdirir. Bu məqamlar iki operanın - Rixard Vaqnerin “Tristan və İzolda” və Üzeyir Hacıbəyovun “Leyli və Məcnun” - süjet xəttini tədqiq edərək müqayisəsini aparan və sevginin tərifi, çağdaş dövrümüzün qəhrəmanlarının üzləşdikləri çətinliklərin təsviri və illuziyanın reallıqla üz-üzə gəldiyi hallarda insanın necə hərəkət etməli olmasına dair peşəkar məsləhətlər barədə rəssamın ortaya qoyduğu suallara cavab verən Azərbaycan və Almaniyadan olan psixoanalitiklərlə müsahibələr aparmaq yolu ilə onların baxış bucağı ilə incələnir. Dərin lirika, ecazkar musiqi, qədim məzarlıqların qorxunc gecə mənzərəsi, tərk edilmiş qala və toxunulmamış meşələrin ahəngində, bu söhbətlər tamaşaçını ölümün əbədi sevgi yolunda yeganə çıxış yolu olub olmadığına dair fikirlərə qərq edir.

Центральная часть первой персональной выставки Васко Араужо в Азербайджане – видео-работа «Liebestod. Любовь и Смерть», в котором рассказывается о романтической любви, страсти и невозможности счастья двух влюбленных. Эти темы раскрываются через призму психоанализа посредством интервью специалистов из Азербайджана и Германии. В интервью они изучают и сравнивают сюжеты двух опер - "Тристан и Изольда" Рихарда Вагнера и "Лейли и Меджнун" Узеира Гаджибекова - и отвечают на поставленные художником вопросы об определении любви, проекции трудностей главных героев в современные условия, а также делятся профессиональными советами о том, как следует действовать, когда иллюзия сталкивается с реальностью. В сочетании с глубокой лирикой, пронзительной музыкой и зловещими ночными пейзажами старинных кладбищ, заброшенных замков и девственных лесов эти интервью погружают зрителя в размышления о том, является ли смерть единственным спасением для вечной любви.
